Gypsy Soul: Wild, Beautiful & Free

Updated: May 10

Where have you been?

It’s been awhile since I’ve dabbled in my creative spaces. So I am excited to play!

In this post, I'll guide you through a mindful movement and breathing practice to connect with your inner gypsy and embrace your beautiful, wild, free spirit!

Feeling a bit like a goddess

After contemplating on the "Blame it on my Gypsy Soul” card I pulled the other morning, I’ve been revelling in my gypsy soul.

Ever dress up in your most gypsy feeling dress and take your oracle Goddess cards out into the trees to dance? Ya, me neither! 😝😁💃

Do you remember?

The last time you felt wild, unhindered and …free?

Can you remember a specific time?

What were you doing? Who were you with? What were you wearing ? Was there a scent in the air? What season was it? Was there music playing or a song that comes to mind?

What emotion was sitting at the edge of your heart?

Take a few minutes to stay with this recollection and make note of what you felt. See if you can pinpoint where the clock stopped and time stood still.

Try to re immerse yourself in the beauty of that moment.

Now pull up the first song that comes to your mind when you visit this memory and move your body in a way that feels “juicy”!

Can you remember?

If you can’t remember a time, stop what you are doing, take a step into your imagination and come play with me for a bit.

Can you feel it ?

The sun warming your skin. Close your eyes for a moment, feel…. Breeze softly tousling your hair, hear the warmhearted laughter of the birds nearby.

There’s nowhere you have to be,

There's nothing you have to do.

The trees whisper once forgotten songs inspiring that smile that has begun to slowly move across your lips. You're not sure why you are smiling but you are.

Can you feel that?

Joy, deep overflowing joy, the kind of joy you’ve long forgotten amidst your every day race to get things done.

Wiggle your toes!

If your toes long to wiggle in the grass…. Or sand… or fresh loamy soil then let them. If only in your imagination, that works too. Feel the cool earth between your toes, feel the sun on your nose and smell the scent of that sweet wet grass!

💫 The Invitation:

Take a minute to settle into this moment wherever you are. You may want to have a notebook or piece of paper and a pen by your side in case you want to capture thoughts you want to explore later.

Little by little

I invite you to slowly, little by little, lift your arms above your head. Lift them only as high as feels good to you. Slow and gentle is the name of the game here. It's about the journey, not the destination.

Curious?

Get very curious and please note that you are not here to judge. Rather, just to be present, to explore, to observe, to listen or to record for later.

How do your arms feel when you begin to lift them. Are they heavy? Are they tingling, are they numb, maybe they’re sore from something you did yesterday?

Do you notice any other sensations in the rest of your body when moving your arms in this way?

Shake it out

Shake your fingers, wrists and arms for about a minute. Let the shaking go where it wants to go and shake it all out. Then stop. Notice. What do you feel now?

What's the story?

Do you notice any type of memory or story that comes up while you are exploring moving your arms?

Our bodys are like a notebook holding the records of our entire live's experiences, no matter how little no matter how small.

Again, no judgment, just acknowledge and make a note if you'd like. No wrong or right , just explore and stay curious.

Expand

Stretch out your fingers, gently wiggle, then roll your wrists, lift your chin slightly until you feel expansion in your chest, then dial it back a bit to where that sensation first starts.

Glimmer

Find the glimmer, that moment, that inspiration that gently stirs right before the big aha stretch feeling and hang out there for a moment.

What do you notice?

Feel it yet?

Feel the tingle in your fingers and the warmth of the spiralling energy from the cosmos move through your arms into your heart.

Let the sunshine in!

Let it radiate out into every cell of your body warming you up from head to toe, let it embrace you and soak it up.

Recharge!!

There is infinite energy for you here.

Breeeeeeeathe ... in, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, breeeeeathe out 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 ... again ... and again.

💫Breath Work Invitation: Figure 8 Breathing (you can do this standing or sitting where ever you are comfortable)

  • Briskly rub your hands together until they feel warm

  • Place one hand on your chest and imagine a figure 8 as you are breathing for a couple breaths

  • Now place the other hand on your belly and draw the breath deeper pushing your belly out

  • Breathe deeper down into your belly for a few more breaths

  • Deeper and deeper with each figure 8.

  • Experiment without pausing between the inhale or exhale.

  • Breathing in one fluid inhalation and exhalation is what we are aiming for

  • Do not worry if you are unable to do this "perfect", the important thing is you are here and present with your breathing.

Remember to be gentle with yourself, this is not a contest!

Hang out here for as long as you like, allow yourself to feel connected, beautiful, safe, wild... and free!

How did the figure 8 breathing affect you? I'd love to hear, drop me a comment below!👇

Know this,

You are the wild,

you are the free

and everything in between.

Let your wild gypsy soul come out to play a bit today. (Maybe pull out that dress or outfit that makes you feel like the God or Goddess that you are and sway around the living room to your favourite song?)

I'd love to hear what your gypsy soul has to say, drop me a comment down below!👇

Don’t forget to throw a little gratitude your body’s way!

Feel free to share in the comments if you’d like. It adds a bit more creative power when you take the thought, write it out, then affirm it aloud! So let's celebrate together!

How about a little something like this?

“I am so grateful for everything you do , for how you move me, for how you allow me to experience the world around me. How you give me the ability to feel, for how you so brilliantly keep me grounded and alive, Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou, I love you!”🥰

I'm practising listening to what my body has to say these days. It's been a few years since I've danced (or moved at all). I feel like I’m coming out of a long hibernation, so my body has been doing alot of talking and I'm not always the best at listening or practising self compassion! Getting better and better though!

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to be here with me on this journey! I appreciate you!

And remember dear ones,

Our spirits dance with the rhythm of the cosmos, weaving tales of wonder and whimsy with each step we take.

We are the dreamers,

the creators,

the seekers,

the ones who refuse to be bound by convention or conformity!

Sincerely,

My Gypsy Soul
