Longing

Tonight I must fall asleep longing….

Longing for the stars to smile

But they remain choked in grey ash

Disguising the flirtatious scent of Fall in the midnight air

Making it hard to find my bearings

My heart misses friends old and new

I can’t help but wonder what’s next as Exhaustion reminds me that I’m in need of sleep

Sincerely,

Remembering the nights where falling stars danced their tails across Summer’s sky and doing young dumb things like smoking first cigarettes

Little did I know it would take me 20 years to quit! I think it’s been 7 years now but I’ve lost count! Feeling grateful<3
